Lanchester motor cars of Coventry.

Lanchester is just one of many old British marques that have long since disappeared into the history of motor-car manufacture. The pieces of paper on this page date to 1933, and are invoices once issued by the Lanchester Motor Company Limited to its customers, in this case Balgores Motors, of Gidea Park in Essex.

Lanchester invoice 1930s

The advice note above, dated 15th June 1933, confirms payment received for 1x 1 gallon can of s/c (straight cut?) Gear Oil, and a 5 gallon drum of Lanchester engine oil, order by Balgores Motors late in May. The contact numbers for Lanchester are given at the top right of the sheet - Telephone: 4161 Coventry, or you could always send a Telegram to "MOTIVITY, COVENTRY". The original invoice, sent 24th May 1933, is shown below ..

The final sheet of paper I have, was issued following receipt of the full invoice amount (including discount) that came to one pound, seven shillings and nine pence.
