1948 Hillman Minx Phase II.
All four photographs featured below show 1948 Hillman Minx, registration JYM 100. This London registration series was introduced in June 1948, dating this car to June or July of that year. The 1948 Minx was, in effect, a freshening-up of the previous model, one that can itself trace its roots firmly back to the pre-war years. Photo #1 in this set shows the Minx parked at a roadside garage, being topped up with fuel from a towering ARAL petrol pump. The gent is in short sleeves, yet the car's sliding steel sunroof is closed, perhaps to protect the Hillman's occupants from the bright sunshine.

The ARAL brand of motor fuel is still sold in Germany and Luxembourg, although in years gone by it could be found in most of the mainland European countries.

The final photo in this set shows the Minx parked outside the Hotel Du Cheval Blanc (White Horse Hotel), a hotel and restaurant somewhere in France.

In updating the Minx for the '48 model year, Hillman did away with the earlier car's front end panelwork, replacing it with a more rounded affair, the headlamps now faired into the front wings, and a blended-in three-piece grille replacing the pre-war design found on the previous model.
