This battleship of an old Volvo was acquired off ebay in 2003 with the definite role of housemover in mind. To save wear and tear to my normal daily wheels (BM) I decided I'd rather buy an old workhorse, flog that by moving lots of stuff to the new house, then sell it on afterwards asap, which is what happened.
With a 2.8 V6 and auto box it made for a great towcar, and is the only car that our roly poly dog liked to travel in. I could fit anything into the back of this sturdy old Volvo, load up the trailer and plonk it on the back, and it'd make light work of it.
Despite hardly being a thing of beauty, this is probably the most useful old crock I've owned and when, in late '03, it was time to bid it farewell, it was with some reluctance. I can see why antiques dealers love 'em.
The following year I acquired another estate, an old Merc 230TE, but thats another story!
In 2005 I returned to Volvo ownership, but this time by re-purchasing a nice old 122S Amazon that I owned a few years previously!
