Background information on the Austin A40 Somerset photograph:

The curvy Somerset model came out in the early 1950s. I owned a Somerset once and managed to lose a wheel while driving over a freshly re-tarmac'd bridge in Hartford near Northwich a few years ago. The rear corner of my car crunched onto the new road surface and left quite a gouge along its length. Passers by found my wheelnuts and I was soon off on my way again at a very steady pace...
