Wyandotte toy truck.

Smart red toy pickup truck from the USA

I bought this Wyandotte Toys pickup from the USA in 2006, via eBay. Whether it would have come with a load in the back, I'm not sure. Thankfully the front grille is still present - many old tin & steel toys like this are missing their grilles, so although the paint is a little tired, it was well worth buying. These are simple little toys, with no baseplate or glazing. The truck's axles mount in the sides of the red body pressing, and there is no motor drive with this toy.

The company began making toys in 1920, but it wasn't til 1929 that Wyandotte turned to producing toy cars, planes and trucks. The company finally folded in 1957, after having moved away from Wyandotte (Michigan) and re-locating to Ohio.

Measures: 150mm long.

Colour: Red all over.
