Vauxhall Light Six.
The Vauxhall's registration is BYU 888, issued in London some time after July 1935. This model, an example of Vauxhall Light Six (DY/DX series) was introduced in late 1934 and was offered in two main versions, the 12hp Light Six (12/6 DY) and 14hp Light Six (14/6 DX), following on from the earlier ASY/ASX six-cylinder Vauxhalls. Saloon and Saloon De Luxe specifications were offered in both 12hp and 14hp form, with prices for the 12hp saloon starting at 205 GBP.

The location of this photograph is Bexhill. Another similar photograph shows a group of six people stood with the car, the chap shown above - with the pipe - presumably the photographer. A close look at the Vauxhall reveals its bootlid partially open, with a Kodak Brownie camera resting on its offside running board.
