Chevrolet Deluxe 1940

'40 Chevy
Here are some photos of my 1940 Chevrolet Deluxe 2-door sedan. It's good old pre-war Detroit iron. Before being modified into a rod, it was an all original car that was Sunday driven. It originally had a 235 cubic inch 6 cyl, with a standard 3-speed transmission. It came from the factory with optional heater and radio and chrome accessory items. It even came with original factory fog lamps.

I bought the car in late 1999 from a friend.
It sat in the garage for about a year before modifications were started. The car was rodded mainly to make it easier to drive. The original steering had to be manhandled, and the clutch was very stiff. It also lacked power for the heaviness of the car. The car now has been fitted with a C.E. Mustang ll front crossmember and suspension parts. Disc brakes with power booster have been added. The 6cyl has been replaced with a 1977 Chevy 350 V8 engine and automatic trans. An Edelbrock intake with Holley carburetor were added, along with all chrome parts. The rear end is a Chevy 10 bolt. A chevy van tilt steering column was installed. A new Walker radiator was installed also. The car is nearly complete, mechanically. Later additions will be a new interior and paint along with a new set of wheels & tires.
