My engine top water casting (the bit that carries water from the 2 cylinder blocks to the radiator is in need of repair or renewal. Any suggestions for repairers?
The car is an Alldays 12/14HP from 1912 |

Hi
There are places that will weld ally castings, the place I used to work at used to send ally pumps off, you could see the repair, but it was always done well, not sure if it is weldable though, I supose it may be worth looking into.
How complicated is it? Recasting it could be an option?
Cheers

Hi
What has happened to the thread with all the pics of the Alldays?
There was a bloke at the Astle Hall meet who was doing allie welding and selling the gear for it, perhaps someone else who went remembers who it was. |

Back in the day, aluminium used to be brazed, (using oxy.acet) not welded.
Nowadays, there are other ways, Lumiweld for non-stressed parts, TIG welding, or even MAG...
Are you sure it is Aluminium, and not a Zinc alloy? |

Thanks for the responses, guys.
The Alldays thread is still running but this is a subject in and of itself and may be useful to everyone.
I've found a company advertising in The Automobile called Cast Iron Welding Services. I'm going to talk to them.
I'll update the Alldays thread soon. |

The reason I asked is, I couldn't find it and you only have 2 posts according to your profile. |
