BA, I have several bikes, the two currently in use are 1969 Triumph TR6 Trophy 650 with right foot gearshift and a rather more modern Honda Fireblade with the other shift.
Fortunately the bikes are so dissimilar that I've yet to experience any problem remembering which foot does what. The fact that each has an "Up for up" shift pattern helps.
Then I get to ride our kid's Beezer Rocket Gold Star with a "Down for Up" shift pattern......this needs some consideration.
Then he lends me his 30's Brough Superiour SS80 with the hand operated gear shift on the side of the fuel tank....this really, really needs some consideration, trust me. Having said that, it's well worth the input. That Brough is one very fast motorcycle, the Fireblade of it's day.
