Glad you made it Paul...i think you will fit in well here...a little more "grown up"
I think you should show the good people here some of your past cars.
I will also blow your trumpet for you...Pauls cars were painted by himself..the Vauxhall was gutted in a fire and like a phoenix it was resurected...the Mercury was scruffy before Paul got hold of it.

Hi Paul,
Welcome to this site. What a fabulous car that Mercury is. I love the cantllevered roof and the super rear lights.
I have a soft spot for FE Vauxhalls as I had a new one in 1977 as a company car, a VX 1800, as I felt it was a better car than the alternative Ford Cortina 2.0 GL. It turned out to be an excellent choice. _________________ Keep Torqueing,

very nice cars paul, I really like the mercury most of all but the others are very nice too!!
In Malta there is only one trabant as far as I know and its in a classic car museum (private collection)
Here's a link to it, go to latest news on the left, and scroll down to find a beige trabant and a small story of how it made it to malta.

Hi Paul, Welcome from the dark continent of North Kent.
You mention Moskvich. Wonder if there are any still about or did they all go back to Eastern Europe with the Lada's when the Iron curtain fell?

Welcome Paul,
Paint finish on your cars is very impressive, especially aided by the shape of the Mercury. Much nicer seen in colour than in B&W.

As far as I am aware there are only a handfull of Moskvich left.
I searched high and low for one, but gave up and bought a later date (1976) German import 2140 model.
Note the plastic grille & bumper end caps.
That I gutted and restored, and took 1st place at the Eastern Bloc Car Rally at Stanford Hall in 2003.
I could tell some tales about the restoration of this car.
I met a terrific bloke over the internet from Moscow who scoured all the local scrapyards for parts for me.
All the hydraulic parts, brake shoes & pads, badges, odd trim & tail lamps came to £62 !
If only all restorations were that cheap !
I sold the Moskvich to a friend of mine in Norwich, who still owns it.
I bought my FE Victor with the money. _________________

Is that an original colour?..it's very bright for an Eastern block car. _________________ Rust Junky & oil addict. |

Its not original for that car. It was bright green originally. Yuk.
I painted it that shade (Ford Carribean Blue) cos I liked it.
Originally it was to be two-toned with a pale blue roof. (See pic), but the paint gun exploded and ruined it.
I had to nitromors the whole roof and start again.
I couldn't afford another litre of sky Blue so it went all over in the Carrribean.
Which funninly enough, I found to be a damn near spot on shade available on the 2140 range.
Glad I did though. Cos I won a trophy !!
You can see the differences between the 412/427 models available up to 1976 and mine the later model upto 1986.
This was my mate Pauls 1971 model. UK import (RHD) and lots of shiny chrome.
