am i missing a point, but i thought this forum was for the use of enthusiasts.can i advertise my business profession or advertise my many spare parts on this forum,or should i use the appropriate advertising channels on the web ?just a thought?

This has been done to death before - yes this is an enthusiasts forum, and that doesn't necessarily preclude people contributing if it is also their livelihood in some way.

So long as people don't sign up with the sole intention of plugging their ebay sales, businesses or whatever, without giving something back to the forum (usually in the form of information or help) then thats ok. If someone actively contributes something useful to the forum, and their business is related to preservation/restoration or similar, then I'm happy with that.
