Dear Friends,

A full grid of cars showed for the Snetterton race meeting, round two in the championship.

Qualifying for the races ended up with an unusual grid formation. Simon, managed to put his car on the front row of the grid, with Howard just behind him on 3, but Jim was down on power and only managed 9th on the grid.

RACE REPORT

24 saloons waited for what seemed an age before the red lights went out and as the group reached the 2nd corner 'Sear', Simon overcooked it and collected three other cars and the race was red flagged(stopped).

Simon's car was very badly damaged as was the Gwinnutt 'new model' XJ6, and both of these cars were out of the race! fortunately, neither driver was hurt in the incident.

So, another start was performed and the cars got cleanly away; Howard made up two places and found himself in 2nd overall but was soon caught by the very quick D class cars of Cann and Ely. Jim maintained his position down on power and held off other cars but was still attacking! Jim did manage eventually to make up a couple of places with late breaking manouevres to put him in to finish 7th overall and most importantly, 2nd in Class B.

On the last lap the reason for the loss of power manifested itself when the head gasket went and Jim 'limped' over the line. Howard battled away and made up one more place only to lose it again and he finished with a first Class B win in his car and 4th overall in the race. Howard commented "the car has finally delivered its promise and I was very pleased with the Class win and a great race. I still feel there is more to get from the car and I am looking forward to Croft, one of my favourite circuits".

Hopefully, Simon's car can be repaired in time and the team are working frantically to get the car ready for Croft on May 6th.

We look forward to seeing you at Croft.

Regards,
EuropeanMotorSport.
