I bought a length of this in the early 90's but it too sure where from, I think it was from 'The Pop Shop':

I don't know the exact construction of the gutters on your car but I expect that they are not screwed-on or brazed but an integral part of a bodypanel. I spent loads of time researching what to do about those on my Fiat and found limited but very detailed advice on the internet relating to other car makes.

I ended up replacing mine in smallish sections, which was very fiddly and looked messy at the time but finally looked pretty good. I found the purchase of a shrinker/stretcher tool was invaluable and may sell it after the restoration.

I hope these photos help. I think there is a detailed explanation with a Morris Minor van repair somewhere on this forum.

Yes, as you say, gutters can be very tricky to repair successfully. It reminds me of a 'craze' of De-guttering vehicles and the stories of people not realising it was where the roof and side panel were joined and cut the gutter off in one go! Hmmmmm Smile

Luckily on the Pop (and a lot of upright Fords) the gutter is braised on to an indentation along the length of the roof line, which is slightly easier to repair.
The new strip of gutter obviously still has to be shaped to fit as it curves at each end so as you have found with your lovely Fiat restoration, the forming tool is priceless Smile

All the best,
Greg
