Here is the link.

Not sure what you can do with a car like this, except put it in a museum?

The ad states that the car has been dipped and stripped and re painted.
Why would you strip a car to a bare shell that had only done 32 miles? - For me this has de valued the car, it’s now just a concours bare shell restoration and the millage is immaterial IMO Confused

Yup I agree, unless it has the factory-applied finishes it's another restored Avenger, albeit very shiny and low mileage.

It had been owned by http://www.surfaceprocessing.co.uk/paint-stripping-hillman.html

presumably to demonstrate their processes.

Dreadful cars when new. I well remember there being many fields near Ryton on Dunsmore full of them cos they could barely give them away.

Maybe this one was the farthest one away and was in need of full restoration before it had been anywhere. Rolling Eyes

It does seem an odd thing to do? They do dip and strip brand new cars for Prodrive , so have plenty of "new" examples.

No doubt they thought they were adding value whereas the exact opposite is true.

Agree with all of you = a car is only original/unrestored when left alone.

The smell & feel of a original/unrestored car is very special, and easy to spot

Shame they ruined it.

Regardless of originality, you could just buy this cheap 'new car', and drive it.
Simple to work on ,tax exempt and more interesting than any other cheap new car, even if not very. Nothing more than a reliable new car????

Even though it would devalue, I bet it wouldnt be at the same rate as a new dacia or similar, and think of the costs of servicing, compared to main dealer new car.

It all hinges on what the finishing price is.

I'm with Welder on this and I also remember the fields of them. At the time either Autocar or Motor cannot recall which produced a leaflet on the model - the impression was it was designed to be as cheap as possible to make.
The Tiger variant would be the only one I suspect of any interest to me - others mileage may vary!
