I would like to know if anyone has used this tool. Called EastBeat dent puller
also called a welder. This model shown here is an early model most likely sold in the 1970s. Made in NSW Australia.. Still on the market but of course more modern with electronics controls etc. This model is a single phase 240v and rated at 15 amps.
This was given to me and was told it's not working properly. Has an Earth lead / clamp and the other lead has a slide hammer tool where a steel washer is attached to the contact end of the slide hammer. When the washer is touched to the dent it is heated up (tool has a heat control and a timer) and washer is welded to dent by the heat.
The fault with this tool is that it is presently working on maximum heat all the time and it is arc welding when the slide hammer tool is touched to a steel panel instead of just attaching the washer by heat and no arcing.

Have shown it to couple of welding shops and two electrical fitters and all said the tool is too old and not worth fixing. I believe there's not much wrong with it. Transformer is not faulty. Fitted a new heat control resistance switch but fault is still on.

Just want to know if anyone has used this tool.

Thanks.
