Does anyone have first hand experience of a quality gloss black ceramic exhaust manifold finish? I had the manifolds on my Aston done by a well known company (no names, no pack drill) but it was a bit of a failure and the coating hasn't taken to the iron and simply runs off. The company have been good about it and offered to re-do them but in one of their matt finish coatings or simply refund my money, my decision. Either way it's a bit of a pisser 'cos it means I've got to strip them off again and send them away etc.
Either way, I've said I'm using the car now through the summer so I won't do anything until the winter. So... Has anyone any experience of a reliable glossy black coating for manifolds? The finish I'm looking for is in the style of the black enamelled manifolds popular on Jaguars and of course Astons in the 50s. Thought I'd ask here because someone must have this finishing their vintage cars. |

My Rover P5 3 Litre Coupe had the dark grey vitreous enamel finish which was standard for the US export cars - this lasted a long time but once it started to craze it quickly fell off and now it looks like a standard cast iron manifold but with a much smoother finish than the standard.
Vitreous enamellers still exist and do cooker/hob parts but even these fail _________________ Rover P2

Try a company called Zircotec.

May be expensive though. |
