Fred Duesenburg invented the hydraulic brakes and used them on his race car in 1914, he didn't patent them.
Malcolm Lougheed (Lockheed) developed a hydraulic brake system in 1918 and made a fortune. |

| That is the first time I have heard about the Duesenberg racing car brakes, but Duesenberg was first to use Lockeed hydraulic brakes on a production car. 1919 for the 1920 model year. |
