I drove for a while a newish C reg CA Van in the mid sixties. Horrid thirsty gutless thing and top gear incredibly low. Bought by employer on price - of course everyone else got a Transit - still thirsty but at least reasonably pleasant to drive.
Sliding door in summer only nice feature. You brave lads who restore them have my admiration.
Just as bad as that dreadful Commer/Dodge thing which only seemed to be bought by the GPO and in yellow. I suppose the very peak of gutless post war vans must be the original Standard Atlas with its 948cc "power" unit needing a 6.66:1 diff (or around there) to move itself along.

i like the CA's a mate had one in the '70's,and put a floor chage 4-speed 'box in,which made it go a bit better.he used to run it on TVO though

Had many happy trips in my CA.... Convertible seats were a hoot as passenger side didn't lock properly....
Many happy memories of passenger being projected towards passenger door at speed... When we started off in bench seat mode....
Even better when said door was tagged back on the door straps and wide open. If only
