On the face of it, this 14hp Rover has potential.

I saw that one, and was a bit amused by his financial calculations: it would be a truly remarkable one to be worth £15,000, and his estimate of £5,000 spent on this one isn't going to go very far, is it? I reckon to get this one into £15,000 territory it's probably going to take upwards of £20,000 after purchase Rolling Eyes
Far better to spend his £5,000 and accept the end result is going to be a usable car worth maybe £6,000-8,000 tops.

Fully agree with mikeC. In addition the size of the registration letters and prefix leads me to believe it has lost its original number albeit it is in Scotland.

The big question is has it been frosted? See replies to questions - Not running when acquired popped coreplugs and an engine stripped down would make me very very cautious indeed.

Yes, GSV is an age related number.

I very much like the look of it, a lot of potential. I don't understand why he has to say it'll be worth £15k but I suppose he is trying to tempt people into thinking it is worth a lot, it looks good enough to me to leave in the condition as is and just do the engine / mechanical work.

I went to see this the weekend before the auction ended. It was a very nice, genuine car, with little more rot that described. The engine did have serious scoring on the rear cylinder, which we thought was a bit of a stumbling block. As a result, my friend didn't buy the car. The seller's expectations on price were low, when we spoke to him too.
Nice car, and best as an 'oily rag' resto, in my opinion.
