Is it just me or do any of you agree that the midges are particularly vicious and numerous this year?

Where I live, on the edge of a forest and near a watercourse is an ideal breeding ground for midges. I thought they were bad last year but I cannot remember being bitten as often or as nastily as this year.

As soon as the sun goes down behind the hill behind my home, out they come and make doing anything outdoors in the long evenings a miserable task. Even cutting grass when you are moving around is an ordeal but staying in the same place as I was this evening swopping the wheels around on my S2 Land Rover was unbearable and I had to stop and go indoors.

I believe it's even worse in Scotland this year if that's any consolation.

I thought that was a typing error and a new model of a popular compact British sports car was being launched...

Manitoba is known for its mosquito. However having lived in the UK for 55 years and frequently taken holidays in Scotland and Wales, I prefer the lesser nuisance mosquito.

Not a major problem for me now, as I use Avon "skin so soft" spray every day. Before I found this product, I used to get eaten alive!
I've just returned from 4 weeks in Scotland, as part of my Euro-jaunt, without a single bite.
