In the middle of my front grille I have a red old style AA badge and on the right I have a square yellow AA Relay badge. We dont have a club badge.
I reckon many of you will have badges. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Hi there
My 1936 Morris 8 has a small badge on the wooden dash. It says "G.M&W Squibb, The Garage, Castle Cary.
Anyone know if they are still about? |

Hi Rick..If you look at the pictures of the car in the Morris section you will see it. I cheated a bit because when I got the badge there was no colour on it. It was badly marked so I cleaned it up and painted it the same colour as the car _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Hi Alec,if it's the Castle Cary in Central Scotland there is no garage there now, just an MOT station in the industrial area further up the hill. I will make enquiries about 'the past',cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

Hi Alec,
Given that it is two words I guess it's Castle Cary in Somerset.
I wonder if this is your garage?

If so it's a tyre fitters today.

| Just a Riley Motor Club badge on the car though I have a collection of RMC badges and mascots from the 1930s - 1960s. |

Hi
It's Somerset
If you google "squibb castle cary" and look at the Download archive Castle Cary living history group link you will get an excel document.
If you use the search facility in the document just using "Squibb" you will find they have 6 entries (documents and/or photos including a note of the garage demolition in '86.
To save you doing the first part of that here is a direct link to the Living History group

Penman's garage appears to be in Station Road so I think that rules out the tyre fitters who are in Park Street.

Hi
How is this for coincidence?
My dad's Austin Ten, in this picture dated 1959, is parked approx between the steps and the trough in the FF picture in Peter Scott's link.

Yes, small world. Unfortunately Google didn't get to the other side of the pond for a "today's view".

That's brilliant. We do intend to drive the Morris back to Castle Cary sometime soon.
Once again thanks for the info. |
