went to the monthly 'meet' there last night, told my friend it was a classic car/bike show.we got there at the start in my Herald, around 16.30,and watched hordes of modern cars allowed into the classics parking area loads of young lads in their bling-ed out motors that you can see on any supermarket car park.a few oldies managed to sneak in,but any turning up after 18.00 were directed onto the 'normal' car parking area, including a magenta Stag and a couple of pre-war's.loads of bikes there, mainly moderns and Harley's,but the majority of pre-war cars and bikes that used to go there must have found a new secret venue! |

For those that do not know where this place is,it is located nr Melton Mowbry
Liecestershire.
I first attended the monthly meet about 14 years ago after a vintage car owner told me about it.
The VSCC used the village pub as a meeting place once a month.
A small following of vintage and classic motorcycles would park along a small lane running in front of the pub.
If you turned up in a classic car you had to park on one of the grass verges opposite the pub.
It was a good venue in those day`s.
A big modern motorcycle meeting place up the road at Six Hills came to and end and with nowhere to go the event was taken over by the modern bike boy`s.
Suddenly the parking became an issue.
The VSCC moved to another secret location.
The cricket club cashed in by charging all classic cars and motorcycles £1.00 to park on the field where the cricket pitch was located.
All was fine until Mr Mondeo man tried to sneak in and park his car on the field, then it was a free for all, with everyday cars using it as a car park.
It was at this point we stopped attending.

And what is your name....."Do not tell him Pike".!!!!!
I really have not bothered to find out.
I look in Classic Car Weekly or Google up "Classic Cars" and then a date to find out any meets.
There is a Classic Car meet at Melton Mowbry town centre once a month on a Friday evening.

Ashby Folville monthly show has been finished with immediate effect,at the request of the local police, due to anti-social behaviour by a minority of show-goers.
