Not only that, but they don't do them on site, which was never explained to me and they don't seem to be very interested in my enquiries. All I got was "It's within our 7 day turnaround and they might be done early next week".

I could have gone to another company whose terms were a 2 day turnaround and their pricing was transparent!

This is going to cut it really tight now for getting the van back on the road for Thursday.

Things are starting to get very silly now. I have had a row with them today about it. Their attitude seems to be that the customer is just an intrusion into their day. In fact one of them did tell me that he could be getting on with things if he didn't have to keep answering the phone to customers chasing orders. I did think that there was an easy remedy to that, shame they appear too dim to work it out for themselves.

Depending on forum rules, I would like to post a diary of my experience with this company and name them so that other people wil not have to suffer this nonsense.

Brake drums returned having been skimmed. Cost me £20 each.

Finally got the shoes back. Spent all day overhauling the braking system and fitting the hitch head springs. I ended up removing those again because they became coilbound well before the handle was moved enough for the ball to seat. I have checked for and cleanedvout the remains of the old ones, so no Idea why this happens.

i hadn't get a sharp point into the bottom of the spring recess and you will find that there is still a good amount of the old spring still institute
after much scrapeing and banging i finally found the bottom and the springs fitted and work perfectly

Thankyou Christine. Took it apart again today and true enough, there was a congealed mix of old grease and bits of spring that just looked like the bottom of the slot. Cleaned it up and refitted. Next trip out is Thursday, so we will see.

Braking performance is so much better. I would say that the brakes have never actually worked since I have owned it, so a big improvement. Shame it all took so long.

hi ajlelectronics
how was your trip out with the new brakes and redone hitch as i keep saying on this forum we need people to wake up to the fact that spares are becoming scarce like our caravans and alternatives or remade items need to be found you managed to find what you required but companies aren't interested they don't see the potential and we run around on worn out springs with dampers that if looked at are in the main scrap

the main components
shoes, hubs,hitches
are virtually bullet proof it's the little things springs, rubber items, and dampers that are becoming scarce
so i think we need a data section so we can tell people who has it and who can make it and what else fits
