Just saying Hello to everyone, as I have just joined OLDCLASSICCAR Forum. I have a 1921 Packard 116 4 litre Tourer, and a 1939 Armstrong Siddeley 16 HP Saloon, both of which are fully restored and in show condition, plus a 1952 Armstrong Siddeley Whitley, which has been well restored mechanically by a previous owner and is currently in for a body refurb, respray and new carpets, so it should match up to the other 2 once I get over the inevitable trauma of paying for the work! All the cars have 6 cylinder engines and both the Armstrongs have pre-selector boxes, but the Packard is 3 on the floor. Once I unravel the intricacies of posting photos, I will put some pics of the cars on here, meantime I am looking forward to attending the Ripon classic car show on 1st Sept - perhaps see some members there?

How can you possibly refer to an Armstrong Siddeley as an old tractor?

My first car was a 346 manual saloon which I painted JCB yellow with a brush. Well, several brushes......

Painted-on whitewall tyres and the title "Gasoline Queen" signwritten on either side of the bonnet. Hey, I was that kiddy!

I owned it before I'd passed my test and on that fateful/wonderful day of passing I called into a Broker's to get insured and asked the attendant young lady for a quote for an Armsrong Siddeley Sapphire, please.

"Is that an aeroplane?"

Bless her, no. But nearly as much fun to a 19 year old........
