Be easier to fit a gearbox with a reverse gear.

I had a 75 for years and sold it a year ago because my garage persuaded me that parts were getting too difficult.

It was as good as new, having done 55,000 miles and I loved it, although the 2 litre V6 had very little torque for an auto. It was silent and comfortable and beautifully made, completely reliable too, but we had trouble getting a heater pipe and so it went and I have an MX5 now which is faster and noisier.

I love Rovers and have had considerable numbers, mostly P4s and a couple of V8 P6, so I'm really sad about their failure. They were a great company and the 75 was a great car if it had the six cylinder engine. The fours were troublesome I understand.

I have the connoisseur version. All mod cons and 10,000 miles from new in the same family all its life.
Nice to drive,a nightmare to sort out electrical gremlins, about as lacking in soul as most moderns but makes a good companion for the p5b.
I admire the builders expertise of the double ended car but I know of two similar in the past that have been banned from road use. If,travelling fast at night you went round a corner and saw this directly in front or it pulled out of a T junction if front, for a second it must cross your mind that it was heading towards you. In the event of a prang I can imagine the insurance companies, the old bill and doubtless the press having a field day.
