|
|
| Hi, I'm restoring a 1978 Carlight Cassetta and the covers on the Labcraft 12v ceiling light covers have become discoloured. I have tried bleaching them and although there has been a little improvement I an not happy with the result. I contacted Labcraft but the light is no longer available. I was hoping someone may have a couple of spares or an idea how the plastic can be lightened. The lights work fine and I don't want to change them for modern ones. try a shop front fitter the thin size is hard to find you need 1mm or thinner in opal or opaque
you can add the stripes with car piping if you need to
as i said i rip out the guts and fill the inside with led on a roll to give a better light for a 10th of the electric if you use the van withuot hook up

| Thanks for your help. I have now managed to find the lexan 0.75mm in opal. I'll also take your advice and change them to led. |

Hello Peter,
I found the best way to make the chrome effect stripes is to buy a sheet of silver paper/thin card. Attach this to some very thin double sided tape and then use a paper guillotine to cut strips of the desired length. I used a length of masking tape on the light covers to act as a guide line against which to lay my narrow strips so that they didn't end up at some silly angle! Also, make the strips long enough to fold over a good 1/4" inside the lamp cover... _________________ David Rachel

Or you could simply use car pinstripe off the roll - comes in chrome and gold as well an an infinate range of colours |

....it all depends on how much of an anorak you are regarding the need to replicate the original trim width - I'm a real anorak! _________________ David Rachel

| I'm told toothpaste is really good for cleaning lights – might be worth a try? |
