|
|
Hello,
I have a kind of ticking noise esüecially in left turns (must not be with heavy steering wheel turns).
The ticking noise frequency sounds like 1/wheel turn and sounds a bit like a stripe of tape which sticks to the tyre and hits everytime the road.
I checked that there is no issue with wheel or tyre, no tape sticking to the typre, ample of space between tyres and body. Rear axle and body are solid.
It's more from the rear as far I can hear.
Any experience?
Best regards

Hi Mark,
Broken spokes can still look ok. You really need to run your fingers round them to tell if they are loose.

Hello Peter,
I have the "easy clean" wheels - no spokes.
Anyhow thanks a lot.
Best regards

Differential lost a tooth? Does the ticking get faster when increasing the speed?
Just a thought.... |

Hello,
thanks for the answer. I have not htought about this as I had expected this to be a much heavier noise but I can check this with an endoscope.
Today I will go to Fladungen. Nice little town in the North of Bavaria. They have a classis car event, but more linked to the 50th/60th.
The 8 must stay at home and can rest.
Have a nice day.

This is just a thought. Have you tried jacking the whole front of the car up, turning the wheels to the left and spinning them? If the noise is present in the front you should hear so. If not then it may be elsewhere. _________________ I really am a nice guy. Just ask anyone that hasn't met me. |

Probably a half-silly answer, but you haven'g got a small stone stuck in the tyre tread have you? This will make a ticking noise. |
