I recently purchased a 60 Litre parts washer from Supercheap Auto - I had been on the lookout for some time and when they had the catalogue special I moved on it. Having a discount card also helped.
The manufacturer recommends water based degreasing fluids otherwise the warranty may be voided. So water based it was. Started out as being very sudsey but the results are quite good. And after time the suds have diminished.
In order to get more value out of the cleaning fluid I attempt to clean must of the crud off by different methods depending on the nature of the grime. Heavy thick deposits are removed with scrapers and heat gun if necessary. Oily scums with rags and solvents.
The parts washer is for the final cleanup - and to date has worked very well .
I have seen members on other forums using solvent based fluids in this particular unit is not detrimental to the pump and fittings. I might wait until it is out of warranty and see what happens _________________ Rosco |
