Twenty years ago, the window winder on my Austin Ten crunched through the glass. I had a new piece cut to pattern at the local "Autoglass". The fit is good, but they cut it out of a sheet of laminated glass. The edges were smoothed to expose the laminations and the whole thing is a bit too heavy and looks awful.
Does anyone know a manufacturer of original type toughened glass? My chances of finding a secondhand piece on this one are very slim. |

| I don't know it, but have a feeling toughened is still used for some purposes in a domestic setting. Maybe worth checking with old-fashioned glaziers locally, assuming any such still exist in the age of nasty plastic windows. I'm hazarding a guess that the shape isn't too complex? |

I know this thread is a year old, but most modern glazing outlets should be able to cut the window out of float glass( plate) and arass the edges( sanding) and send it off to be toughened. Thats how all domestic toughened glass is produced. _________________ I really am a nice guy. Just ask anyone that hasn't met me. |
