The window and door handle look suspiciously like Renault Dauphine.Weren't they used as mini cabs by some outfits?

It could be my Grandad's car and I know he liked Saabs at one point.

Don't think it's a Saab, as poodge suggests Dauphine could be it based on the window, see the cutaway drawing on this site for the position of the door handle:

I agree with the Dauphine - there are very few cars of this era with a vertical division like that to the rear window. It cannot be a Saab, as they were only 2-door, and this is plainly a rear door view.

The proportions suggest it may be a Dormobile or similar van based vehicle.

These little French cars can look very big on the inside!

Dauphine may be a good call but my suggestion is Fiat 600 Multipla.

Please let it be that...what a car to have been in so young...and it would explain a lot about me.

A quick web search suggests then that if it is a Fiat 600 Multipla and you happen to have been born in Italy it could well be a taxi! Wink

This is the interior of a Multipla:
http://www.sportscarshop.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/07Interior-Back-Custom.jpg
It's clear that the door handle is sited lower, and farther back. The window front part also appears to be larger than on Colwyn's photo.
By comparison, here is a Dauphine rear seat area:

I think we have a winner!
