Hi. I noticed a while ago on the DVLA website that my grandad's Morris Minor, HVG 59 is still on their system. Does anyone on the forum know of it's existance?

My grandad bought it new in 1955 and kept until 1959 when it was sold to a garage to help fund a house move. In addition to learning to drive in the driving school's FORD 100E my dad had lessons in the Morris which he much prefered. In my grandad's ownership a speedo and damper were replaced. The car used to travel a 200 mile round trip from Norwich to Luton and back every weekend from around Sept to Dec 1958.

My father and I would love to hear about the car now and my dad would via myself answer any questions during my grandad's ownership.

Cheers.

Neat, amazing that it is still around. I think it'd be worth contacting some of the Morris clubs, see if it is on their books. They won't (or shouldn't..) give out details of the currents owner's address, but might forward on your enquiry to the current owner, so that they can contact you directly.

DVLA may also forward on your enquiry, be worth asking them the question.

You could also try writing to a few of the classic car mags, see if they'll publish a letter about the car.

Do you have any old photos of it? if so I could feature it, and your request, on the main site. Like I said in another post, a former owner of my Devon found me via the site and 'net, so it can work. I do have a page where I list the reg. numbers of cars that people want to trace, so I could add it there too.

cheers, Rick

Hi Rick,
Next time I visit my dad I'll see if he has any photos. Ithink he may well have.
My grandad was a Morris man. Before the war he had a Morris 8, and after he had a Morris 10 and a Morris Oxford series MO. He had the Oxford in 1949. I believe it was a company car.
Cheers.
