Been in Japan for a couple of weeks: Spotted a real, genuine, proper, all metal mini countryman in the car part at the Tokyo motor show, then when driving away passed a Karmann Ghia, both in exceptional condition!

It's only though the winter months on the second Sunday of the month. Meet about 11:30 for a couple of hours then we all dwindle off home for a sunday Roast.
Ring peter and give him your email address and he'll remind you each month.
Below is the reminder email I get.
Dear classic or interesting car or bike owner,
Thanks for signing up for reminders of the Queen Eleanor meet. We meet during the autumn, winter and spring on the second Sunday of the month and the next meeting is Sunday, January 12th, at around 11.30am.

A 1963 Amazon was the first car I ever owned. I brought it in 1977 and took it to Germany with me as I was in the army at the time. I used it for 3 years, then sold it off to a German, who rebuilt the it to show standard. I moved on and never see it the car again.

Incredible to find identical MM's, even down to the number plates...
(Good to see classics out in the winter months. Probably due to the mild weather and lack of salted roads but good nonetheless) |

Back in the '70s the chap I worked for who had a multi car driving school, all minis, was out in his new car with his son when his lad asked him "Why has that car got the same number as ours?".
They flagged the other driver down and it turned out that their cars had front and rear plates interchanged. The numbers on front and rear were one number apart and who checks that they have the same plates on front and rear when they collect a new car.
They knew what reg number they should have but until their registration papers arrived they didn't know for certain whether they each had the correct vehicle.
Fortunately they did otherwise the dual controls would have had to be swapped over.
It turned out that the 2 cars, same colour and same model, were parked next to each other. so the bloke fitting the number plates did both fronts first and of course he remembered that "123" was on the left and "124" on the right but when he went round the back to do the rear plates he forgot that left was now right and vice-versa.
