How many of us have said that over the years?
I like to think that I'm satisfied with what I have, classic and modern and I have promised myself, no, I will not buy another car.
BUT I have always had a hankering for one car and I really don't know what I would do if one of these came my way in the future :

I have always liked the Cortina 1600E. I tried all ways to persuade my father to buy one in August 1969 when he bought the Wolseley 18/85 Mark 2.
I was offered a really good 1970, 50k mileage one in 1981 but declined because I was just about to buy a property and in 2010 I was offered an early, restorable 1968 Saluki Bronze example. It was with considerable restraint that I said no to the same person who had just sold me my Series One Land Rover 86".
That car found a new home in Dublin and I was glad not to have to look at it whenever I went to assess the work and parts needed on the Series One.
If another came for sale next year I don't know if I could resist the temptation......
Which car, vehicle or motorbike would tempt you?

Edit. I wouldn't mind a Honda Fireblade either but I know that I'm too old now for one of those..................... _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Wouldn't mind a bike from my teens, such as a
Puch M50 Sport, or a Kawasaki AR80

I think if a roadworthy Austin A40 Dorset came up for sale tomorrow I'd find it very hard to resist. _________________ Richard Hughes |

Well I don't think I'd want any of the vehicles that I owned in the past and since this is fanciful I'll add "at the right price" to Ellis' title "I'm not buying another classic, but if *** came up sometime"...
I'd be happy with it any of the conditions shown below.

....and yes I know that the Blue Train Bentley was a different, less flamboyant car. _________________ https://www.nostalgiatech.co.uk

Back in the 1980's there was a chap who stayed at the Wilson's Arms Hotel in Threshfield, nr. Grassington, North Yorks. Iirc He had an engineering works somewhere in West Yorks. He drove a Blue Train replica which had a Commer chassis under it, complete with TS3 engine. It looked fantastic and sounded even better!
I wish digital cameras were around then, as my old instamatic was always out of film and I would have got more details from him, but he was leaving as I was pestering him. |

Thanks for that Art. I hadn't seen it before.
A replica with a TS3 under the bonnet sounds like a load of fun John.
I did come across a guy some years ago who was building a replica on a Phantom chassis.

Not so fanciful - if a genuinely good Ford Cortina 1600E or restorable project came my way, I would sell one of the Land Rovers, the Series One I think, to buy the Ford.
And that would be the last one. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Having given this some thought, unlimited funds? 1953 Hudson Hornet convertible with triple H power in lipstick red with a white roof. Realistic funding? 1965 Vauxhall PB 3.3 Cresta with hydramatic in any standard colour. |
