The interior of my vogue is in superb condition but has been standing unused for many many years.
It is in need of a good clean, mainly to remove some nicotine staining which im sure will prove to be problematic.
So, what products are best to use? soap and water or something more specialized to clean the seats and door cards?

| I don't know if it's still available...Decosol. A slightly gelatinous liquid that washed off easily after using a nail brush to loosen the dirt. |

I bought a low mileage Astra for my wife years ago, the car was only about 3 years old, but the previous owner was a chain smoker
The headlining was disgusting, got it valeted; don't know what they used but the headlining was like new so there are products out there that work.

| A guy used to come round to a place I worked and clean cars. He used a selection of squirty bottles on various parts. I don't know what they were but the cars used to come up like new, it was quite remarkable. He told me that none of the stuff he used was available in shops, not sure why. I think he charged £50 which I suppose was ok as he had a van full of equipment to finance. I imagine mobile valeters vary in effectiveness but it might be worth a try |

On vinyl seats I tend to use Chante Claire sgrassatore, or equivalent.
The cream seats in my green mini look ok but whenever I do clean them with this I have to change the water in the bucket continously as it turns to grey in no time so it must be doing a good job!
For the roof's upholstery I tend to use it and also add some bleach to the water in the bucket. When I did the hunter's I didn't even know that the sunvisors were actually white.
I cleaned them with a mix of sgrassatore and bleach and they came up like new, the only stains I could not remove were on the back of the driver's one and it was glue where previously a picture of a saint had been affixed with some sort of glue!!
I left it as it cannot be seen, its apparent only when lowering the visor! |

Decosil was unbeatable apart from Cellulose thinners applied sparingly and with a light touch in well ventilated conditions. Worth trying as a last resort _________________ Rover P2
