Hi
Is that one of the Indian ones?
Or has someone done the Indian diesel conversion on an original Uk bike?

There is a Yanmar diesel Royal Enfield I see at Chipping Steam Fair (and I cannot find my pics) Which I think is the one this site:

Looking at the force required to start combined with the number of attempts! , I wonder how long the kick start mechanism will last Shocked

My mate has a 12 plate petrol version(500cc). That is a superb bike and not unlike riding a b44/50.
Bit easier to start as well (electric start)

Instead of pouring petrol on the air intake he should use a rolled up sheet of newspaper which should be alight and placed down the intake throat to heat the diesel, it would have started on the first kick of the pedal

We all need to get out more Laughing
That definitely beats watching paint dry though.
I think the bike should be made an honorary classic..it has all the drawbacks of a classic and plenty of unique style.
I would love to cruise round on one of those; it must have fantastic fuel economy. Cool (200 to the gallon apparently). (of lighter fluid?)
The guy's a hero.

Loosely linked to this, a group of gallant riders set off from Lands End to get to John o Groats, but not on what you would expect to be modern power machines. One on an early 70s earls fork 125cc MZ,another on an ES 125 MZ, the third on a Yamaha step through 80cc, another on a Honda 90cc step-through, one on an MZ super 5, and finally the last on a diesel Enfield.
It would seem there are different engines fitted. This had an electric start, around 12bhp, and the rider was disappointed to only be getting just over 100mpg, blaming the 'sports machines' he was riding with, and trying to keep up with them.
We met them at Golspie, and rode the last few miles with them. they did it in three days, then next day rode home!
