After I finish the paintwork on the singer, I have a new front and side window seal(s) to fit (I am leaving the old one in place but cut back as part of the masking up process for the paintwork).
My question is:
Do I use something like tiger seal or similar to ensure a good weather tight seal is produced?
Do I use some sealant between seal/glass and seal/bodywork?

Kevin, I see you didn't get any replies to this post. What have you decided to do, as will be in a similar position on my Fiat 500 restoration soon? I have an original Fiat workshop manual produced by Fiat and they certainly suggest using some sealing compound under the rubber on the outside of the car.

Can anyone suggest a particular sealing compound for window rubbers?

got this advice on another forum

'Hi Kev - These are all in rubber so you need a proper windscreen sealer that will remain flexible and move / expand / contract with rubber & glass - Don't use silicone based or bonding / glue based products - I use Abromast Autograde which is specially made for sealing traditional windscreen rubbers (use both glass & body side) its available through Rejel - http://www.rejel.com/rejel-store/windscreen-sealer.aspx - but you may find it elsewhere - I spent several years in the automotive glazing industry so if you have any further questions / issues just post them up'

Cheers Kev that's really useful and it's reasonably priced as well. I need to do front, rear and rear side windows. I assume he is saying use it on the inside and outside when he said "use both glass and body side"?

Reasonably priced? Not from Rejel. Tube price is fine until you add their £8 carriage & VAT. They also think Highland post codes include FK(Falkirk) & G(Glasgow)(Central Scotland) which attract a surcharge. Cheaper on eBay at £7.45/£7.50 with free carriage to anywhere. Postal charges are the same for anywhere in UK so why have extra charges for Northern Scotland?

I can echo the last point, Couriers are terrible up here, Royal Mail does next day delivery, all at same price.

I send tools all over the UK,same price for any post code.
Some firms seem to regard post as an extra bit of 'bunce'.
