Have you ever gone on to buy something, after spotting it up for sale at the side of a road?
The only roadside "buy" that I can think of was a Series 1 Daimler Sovereign (XJ shape). Someone had it parked on a grass verge with a For Sale notice in the window. It had quite a few months MOT on it, the paint was a bit ropey but beneath the finish it was fairly solid. The interior was showing its age, and the flora establishing itself on the mouldy back seat wasn't a factory option as far as I recall.
Despite appearances, it went like a train, and provided enjoyable transport for a while before heading off for a new life down south somewhere.

I bought a lovely 1973 beetle many years ago from the roadside near chester, the lady was selling as her daughter had left home for uni.

| On the same sort of lines...I was driving locally down a road just past the scrapyard. All the 'likely' types dump tyres etc that they wont take in the scrap down into the ditches. To my surprise I noticed a nice Rostyle wheel so I stopped and lo and behold found 4 of them!! |

I bought my very first Manta back in the day from a guy on a petrol station forecourt. He wasn't selling it, but pulled up next to me at the pump. I loved the look of the car, asked him if he wanted to sell it, and we made a deal there and then and shook on it.
5 months later I had to scrap it as it was riddled with rot on the chassis!
Hard lesson learned - Manta's rot!!! Haha. _________________ Born to rally, forced to work!
