|
Liberty Motors in New South Wales engaged a professional photographer to obtain images of their used cars for sale over a period of years in the 1930's. Fortunately many of the photographs are available on line, and below, is a small sampling.
The antipodes seemed to collect cars from many parts of the world. and naturally those from Commonwealth Countries predominate. Often the Aussie buyer wanted American style cars as they were better suited to the rigours of our country at the time, so, although there are many British imports, there are U.S.A. ones, usually coming here via Canada.
If the sample pics wet your appetite, then I can post more as time goes by- just let me know.
These are from 1937-
There is currently a business called Liberty Motors in the outskirts of Sydney, but I don't know if it is connected with the 1930's firm. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Rick. Seems that so far there is not a lot of interest, but I will try with another selection of pics.
Incidentally, all the photographs are in the State Library of New South Wales, and posted here for study and research. As some of the cars are photographed from slightly different angles, and the photos are jumbled, it will be inevitable that double-ups occur
I have had a few moments to investigate Liberty Motors, and it seems that they came into existence early in 1935.
Another selection-

Not so Dane. They are interesting photos but if they are accessible directly "on line" would it be easier just to quote it?
Thanks,

Who's up for identifying the cars shown so far?

Couldn't agree more!
The first one in the first batch is a late '30s Wolseley - I would guess an 18/85; the second is an American - sorry, I'm not very good on Yanks! - the third is a late Silver Ghost, circa 1922-23.
On to the second batch: I don't know the first one, the second car is an early '30s Sunbeam. Then we have a 1934-ish Austin Seven, next, I don't know -could it be an Austin Ten? - and then another American for someone else to id! |

| Lot of rare photos there. I doubt that some are not around any more. |

The 2 door sedan, last in the second set looks rather like a 1926/27 series 60 Chrysler.
