Hello all,
I have just inherited a Vedette Vendome (unsure of the year however it has suicide doors and a V8 engine which may help clarify which model it is).
I think these are quite rare as only 3000ish were manufactures in the late 40's and early 50's as Ford send across a load of parts from the US to France to help them build a post war car. I think i was told there were only about 7 running Vendomes in France when it was purchased in approximately 1998.
I have found a few bits and bobs online about this cars but i really don't know what im inheriting.
I plan to keep the car in the family and restore it over a number of years, however before i do this and start investing in this car it would be nice to know how much the vehicle is worth. I cannot find any for sale or recently sold however i doubt i have looked in the right places.
If anyone knows about this motor or knows one which has sold relatively recently i would love to know. If anyone knows of any articles or posts in other forums with information i would also love to learn more.
many thanks
James |

Thanks for the speedy responses.
I have not got any photos of the car yet as it is abroad...
Condition wise it is average, needs some TLC as is is showing its age but still runs ok - needs money spending on it especially in the break department.
Lovely colour, powder blue with a white roof and white wall tyres |

| The early Vedettes were made by Ford of France, some had a 3.9 litre engine, some a 2.2. Ford sold out to Simca, I think all the Simca Vedettes had the 2.2 litre engine which was much the same as the British Ford Model 62. Simca made several improvements to the engine over the years, towards the end power output was up to 85 H.P. In the early sixties Vedette production went to Brazil where the engine received an O.H.V. conversion boosting te power to 120 |
