Hi everyone. Fell over this site recently. What a great place. I am the Jowett Car Club's Bradford registrar. I would be delighted to hear from anyone with a Bradford, especially if you are not a member of the Jowett Car club. Jowett built 40000 Bradfords, but I only have details of about 300. If you own one, owned one in the past, scrapped one, or even only have photos of one please get in touch.

Do you have any pics of your jowetts/Bradfords?

Cheers

Would love to see any pictures that you have. What became of the vehicle?
I have pictures of mine (definitely not a concours vehicle!! but then again I'm not too keen on polishing it let alone collected tinware! Am I alone here?)
All I need to do is figure out how I post a picture.

No you are not alone , my only rule is that I wash my car twice a year; whether it needs it or not.
I once took my Austin 10/4 and caravan to the Waldershare show without having cleaned it for weeks, we were parked alongside a Mk2 Jag and the owner spent most of the show polishing it but you should have seen his face when I took 'Best in show' ! The shock was pretty traumatic for me as well.

Hi

To post pics have a look at:- http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2454

I am not sure what happened to it, be good to find out, but will probably never know. Not sure what photos my mum may have of it, but will ask her!

I hate shiny comercials, they need to be used, and borderline rough comercials look the best in my oppinion, as this is how they would have spent most of there lives! Very Happy

Cheers

Here, hopefully is a picture of my (not very tidy, but tidier than the metro in the background) Bradford.
These are also great for one-up-manship at shows. Park next to a serial polisher and open the bonnet. Crowds gather to wonder at 2 sparking plugs about a yard apart, no water pump etc and usually ignore the gleaming chomy thing next door!

I love those things, and just with a patina of workmanlike grime about it.

Hi Paul, Just came across this postcard of Ashford(Kent) High St showing quite a collection of interesting vehicles including two Bradford vans (one unfortunately obscured by 'thoughtless' pedestrians.) They must have been pretty popular down here.

Thanks - great picture. I love these old street scenes. Just been to Denmark on business and some of their town streets are still a bit like this, before eveything became all angular, glass and anonymous!
I have a similar picture from the Francis Frith collection, of a Bradford coming thru one of the ancient city gates in York. Would scan and post it, but I guess we might trespass into copyright territory!

Most of my old postcard images have been copied and framed and put on sale at autojumbles etc' Not by me I may add. I aquired a box of copies that had slight imperfections so had not been used. I am not sure about the copyright angle on these, but if the photographers name is not on the copy or 'in most cases, the company has ceased to exist there is no way you can ask permission. Confused

Hi Paul
If you know the site you can find it and post the link as follows:

http://www.francisfrith.com/search/england/yorkshire/york/photos/york_Y12044.htm

Is that the one you meant?

Hi Penman, thats the one! I confess I bought the book and never thought about their web site. When you buy a Frith Album you get a voucher for a free print so I opted for that one!
Looking at the prices I probably got a bargain because I'm sure I bought the book in a discount book shop and paid less than the print price for it!!
Thanks!

Any Bradford enthusiasts might like to investigate the video on this site, showing my good friend Roger Young at the above!
