Hello

I have a chance to trade my simca to a ford 100E or a ford 105E.
I didn't see the cars live but i believe they are both in good conditions.
If were you...what would you choose and why?

I once owned a 107E, which has the 100E bodyshell fitted with the OHV 105E engine, best of both worlds.

Although I prefer '50s cars to '60s cars, I think I would have the 105E simply because I suspect it would be the nicer car to drive.

Maybe someone else has experience of owning both, and can comment in detail?

The 105E is much nicer to drive than the 100E by reason of a 4 speed box and electric wipers and a few more besides.

The 100E is quite nippy off the mark but the jump from 2nd to top is a very big leap and just like skipping 3rd in a four speed change.

Other than the above it really depends on which styling you prefer.

I've had both, racing the 105E after buying a 'Coke bottle' Cortina GT.
Agree with Peter re the jump between 2nd and 3rd (Top).
The engine dies, BUT I did show a clean pair of heels to a Dauphine in the traditional Robot (Traffic light) sprints in Johannesburg, that with an engine that only had the head skimmed 10th.
At one set of Robots the driver shouted out "What you done to it?" Very chuffed was I.
With my first car, a LoLite MM also with a head skimmed 10/15th, I could just about keep up with my friend's 100E Prefect.
I would go for the 105E without hesitation. So much you can do to it.
Two doors not as convenient as four, but no comparison.
I did see a very very nice 100E in Diss Tesco car park some years ago, with a lovely DIY multi-gauge instrument panel behind/in front of the steering wheel.
Neighbour of friends has just bought an Anglia Super, and I'm green to say the least. It brought back wonderful memories, and the pedals where perfect for heel 'n toe.
Ah braking for Crowthorne at the end of Kyalami straight and into Clubhouse.

keep the simca is a bit out of question. unless i can't trade/sell it.

The 105e is much faster then the 100E? talking about stock cars.

I'd have a 105E. Someone round here has a grey one with an Escort Cosworth engine. Lovely thing. My cousin had a super 105E, 5 1/2 J wheels etc. The bottom half of the engine apparently broke the F3 lap record at Goodwood and it had a very close ratio gearbox. Terrific car. Fords of that period should certainly be tuned.

Ford Anglia 105E every time for me.

I owned one many years ago and still have fond memories of what was a delightful car.
