On Thursday morning we were going out to lunch and when leaving Warwick we saw a number of Land Rovers around. I thought that there must be a rally in the area. We came up behind a rather nice 1968 model and followed it for a while. We turned off the main road onto a B road, but a well used busy road. The Land Rover in front slowed down and then pulled in behind a row of Land Rovers parked at the side of this single carriageway road.

I could not believe what I saw next. One Land Rover was on the opposite side of the road, double parked, facing oncoming traffic. A couple of the owners were standing on the pavement taking photographs of the Land Rovers. This was just before a bend in the road so oncoming traffic came round the bend to be faced with a parked up Land Rover on their side of the road!

How stupid was that? Only smart responses from oncoming drivers avoided an accident. This was near to Hatton Country World, which is a popular place for classic events. When coming home we called into Hatton and sure enough there was a sign saying ' Land Rover Series 2 Register West Midlands Region and they were having a Rally there.

This was not a good example of classic ownership.

Bri, let's not get too judgemental. It was a rally so most/many were new to the location and were probably excited to be putting faces to forum names.

The fact that they were lined up, roadside, suggests that they were early arrivals

Been there, done that.

PS I know that stretch of road very well indeed, it's open, fairly wide and fuss free.
