If a 102 year old local chap can do it, so can I but I might have to warm up the water... _________________ David

| A telling comment though. "28% of revenue went on research and over 50% on salaries". No cure has ever been found, and I can find better things to do with ice such as putting it in my whisky of an evening. Remember when Guide Dogs for the Blind had so much income they had no idea what to do with it? And what future for them as technology comes more and more to the aid of the visually handicapped? don't get me wrong, I think charity is a great thing, although it begins at home here with kids strapped for cash in this modern world and the post code lottery meaning she has to pay every penny of her IVF treatment, but I spent my life in the financial world and do not get taken in by tigers needing a new well to drink out of and so on; well, not before I have had a long hard look at the accounts to see where the money goes. |

While it might be a worthy cause it seems little of the money raised goes to where it is said to.
There must be a lot of people desperate to get a few minutes of attention, they could give money to this or any other charity without making an exhibition of themselves but obviously choose not to. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

"...making an exhibition of themselves..." has considerably raised the profile of the ALS (Motor Neurone Disease) charity, wouldn't you say? That's why lots of people wear pink and run for Breast Cancer Care or put on daft costumes for the London Marathon; it's all about publicity for the charity they support.
To call them attention seekers is missing the point by a considerable margin. _________________ David

You've missed the point yet again. It isn't just about donating money, it's about increasing public awareness. _________________ David
