thanks for the replies i think i will have to wait to uncover the car completely to find out exactly what it is i will post pics as and when i take them but the car is in a terrible state and will take a long time to complete

My immediate thought was a Sunbeam Talbot, but a Google search to confirm doesn't lead me to a close up of the front of any of their models.
I also seem to remember a website with photos of manufacturers badges and logos from all over the world but I can't find that either. |

As I thought Rootes group.
This is a mid fifties Minx so I would guess that yours is earlier, possibly one of the upright radiator grill ones.
