My new license came yesterday: and surprise, DVLA have changed the codes yet again!

Makes zero sense; neither does their website nor the government's site.

If anyone finds a site where the key to this bureaucratic gobbledegook can be translated, then I would be delighted to know!

Thanks Penman.

I did look at that specific site.

Problem is it fails to throw up certain pertinent data!

"79 - restricted to vehicles in conformity with the specifications stated in brackets on your licence".

OK thus far. However where is the key to (3)??

Hi
Do you mean you have a code 03 showing somewhere?

If this so is it alongside all categories in the same way the 01 eyesight correction code is or is it against a specific vehicle category such as 101 would be alongside a Cat D1 for someone who hasn't passed the category but is allowed to drive it "Not for hire or reward".

I have the latter even though I do actually get paid for driving by virtue of a section 19 small bus permit.

Something our older members should be aware of by the way, additional categories such as D1 and C1 which used to be handed to people who passed the car test are no longer given to the newer drivers and are removed from older driver's licences when they reach 70, UNLESS they fill in a different renewal form AND pass the vocational drivers medical examination.
