A real expert builder I knew (started off life as a cabinet maker in the 1920s) devoted the last 20 years of his business to painting and decorating.

It was a large concern eventually, employing many: for example he had the contract locally (town of 200,000 pop and outlying areas) with the Post Office siting and maintaining ALL call boxes and postboxes!

The woodwork of his own home was painted a light green-blue and he always varnished the paint when finished and he regularly hosed it off!

Lasted years.

Big break and big change of plan.

I had a huge amount of luck in finding a period 1950's wooden dropside body for my Commer. It needs only slight modification to fit but its all there and the original timber is great. It is painted albeit in a dull faded blue when the lorry is to be painted brown. So my plan is to simply rub it down then prime and then spray, I presume the cellulose I purchase for the metalwork would be ok for use on timber?
