So its that time of the year again when lots of classic car enthusiasts get together at Mdina to watch some fine automobiles racing.
This year the experience got even better since it was extended for one more day. It started all on Thursday in Mellieha, the bypass called Ta Pinellu was closed to traffic and a hillclimb for all participants in this year's grand prix and other guests was held.
I could not make it on the day but here's a vid from youtube in which you can see the track.

However I did make it on Friday when the concourse d'elegance was being held in the pjazza just in front of the Cathedral in Mdina.
Here are some pics from the day;
Those were most of the cars on show during the Concourse d' Elegance, some I have skipped cause I had photos of them already.
Then on Saturday there was some practice runs and some racing but I could not make it on the day but on sunday I woke up early and went in convoy with my cousin in his 124 and me in my green mini;
We got at the meeting spot quite early but there was all sorts of cars already driving by, even some of the competitors taking part in the races!!
The sound of all the different tuned engines was music to my ears.
So when it was time together with other cars from the club, we drove in convoy to our destination were the cars could be parked as part of a static display whilst we could enjoy the races from a vantage point.
When we arrived there, there were already a lot of nice cars parked so take a look;
And then the racing started, unfortunately the vantage point mentioned earlier was not at all like last years so photos taken aren't great and infact I lost interest in taking pics because of this and just enjoyed watching the races after a few minutes and putting the camera back in its case!!
But here are the few I took;
I have posted the racing photos the other way round, actually in that particular race the dark green mini pictured was 1st whilst the yellow clubman was second in class. |

There was an interesting story on that electric ride on rolls royce replica but I forgot to photograph it!!!
I wouldn't mind some nice pedal car actually!!!
By the way Jens did you notice the fiesta yellow S, that's the one with the BMC plate, which belongs to a friend of mine who happens to be the club coordinator, beautiful car, its the one I had mentioned to you undergoing restoration.
Its a 1071, already pretty rare and the fact its fiesta yellow makes it even rarer! |
