I'm a swinger too ... 5 oldies, 4 of which are older than me, just the 1976 Stag that is younger than me.
That said, I would like a Sunbeam Lotus, and a Mk1 Astra GTE ( schoolboy dreams)

Older, pretty much every time. The only exception I can think of would be the Triumph Acclaim, the youngest of which are slightly younger than me. Unfortunately they've gone from being cheap and cheerful bangers to being the sort of cars that you need lots of spare space and cash to travel around accumulating spares cars, NOS spares and so on as they appear on the market, because you know you'll struggle to find it when you really do need it Otherwise, everthing I like is older than I am, and about as glamorous - perhaps I'm made wrong but I tend to be more drawn to the bread and butter stuff than the glamorous sportscars |

Generally older than me. As I'm 71, I go for real old stuff!
The Chrysler, Morris and Austin 7 are all older than me (By 17 years, 15 years and 11 years respectively) and the A40 is 7 years younger than me.
That said, I must admit I absolutely looove my 1996 Jeep Cherokee (a car with severe attitude! "I'm a Yank; I'm different; get used to it!") and am also casting lustful eyes towards getting a late nineties 6 cylinder BMW Z3! As my wife insists that her days of climbing into low slung sports cars is over, this may be harder to achieve!

I guess I have various triggers for my interest. I am interested in technologies in general, the more unusual the better, old or new.
Nostalgia also triggers my interest.

Mine's three years older than me and indeed when I set out to buy an old car getting one that was older was a prerequisite. |

I have one 12 years younger and one 15 years older than myself, so I am almost in between.
I must admit to a leaning towards 30's car styling, albeit the actual age does not worry my, so a post war Citroen Traction or Riley RM would appeal on style and design terms, just as much as a pre war equivalent.
The Volvo, well, it is almost a pre war design, with undertones of the VW Beetle and some of the late 30's Americana (upon which it is allegedly based in concept terms).
Nostalgia for old family cars owned by my parents does not really influence me, my father had an A30 and then a series of Heralds before eventually graduating to a Hillman Hunter. My memories of the Heralds is largely influenced by my attempts to drive them which was hampered by my 6 foot 5 inch frame, which has also seriously influenced my choice of cars, ancient and modern, ever since. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Both younger, but my interests are changing. An old PA Midget perhaps, or something else pre-war. I'm getting older, and speed is no longer the objective. |

Sigh.............
I am clearly so ancient, now, my Herald 1966 convertible is the oldest: the Bimma is 1989; and the Volvo a mere spring chicken at 1993! _________________ Well, apart from that, did you enjoy the play, Mrs Lincoln? |

I have a foot in both camps.
My Morris 8 Two seater pre-dates me by 9 years and my Singer Roadster is my junior by 4.
On balance, I prefer pre-war cars but I see the attraction in both. |

I'm 23, so everything I own is substantially older than me! _________________ Richard Hughes |
