Pretty much the situation that persists to this day in New Zealand, though belated measures have recently got underway to address the most dire needs. The clogged motorway network around Auckland is due to be completed in 2017—only sixty years after it was started! Nonetheless, most main routes between cities are just like those in Britain before the war, namely narrow, winding, and single-carriageway. Unlike pre-war British roads, they're dominated by monstrous trucks.
