I enjoy watching 1950's/1960's films, particularly British ones for the pleasure and the nostalgia of seeing what are now classic cars in everyday use without being the staged and in some ways the artificial period dramas of today.

So which is my favourite?
Without doubt it is the 1967 film Robbery and the still exhilarating car chase involving a superbly driven 1964 Mark 2 Jaguar.

What a coincidence! At 4:04 there's a Triumph Gloria exactly like the one in the left-hand eBay advert above.

The film 'Genevieve' took quite a role in boosting my interest. 'The Fast Lady' was rather good.

So am I - I taped Genevieve years ago and still stuff it in the old VCR every so often. The street scenes are great and with all sorts of "modern cars" and trams too. It was released the year I was born and even in colour which was not common on films then and not at all on TV even though I remember watching it in B/W in the 1960's along with the Fast Lady and Carry on Cabby which is really good too

I suppose its on-line now but its more hassle setting up the laptop to use the big TV and the set up does not support HD either so quality is no better than the VHS tape. I can get U Tube via cable too on our existing HD TV but it still tedious and slow to set up and find anything and not totally reliable on playback

Hope to get one of these swish smart TV's soon so things will be more straightforward?

I've always had a soft spot for "King of the Mountain", set in LA in the seventies and starring Harry Hamlin and Dennis Hopper. Not such a big fan of all the very seventies music, but some interesting cars and driving sequences.

California Kid, but again the 70's sound track on a 50's film nearly ruins it, but the car, Oh the car!

As American films are being nominated, does anybody remember "Two Lane Blacktop" from 1971 with James Taylor (Beach Boys drummer) and Warren Oates?

Great road movie.

The proper Italian Job is my favourite, but I also like a lot The Love Bug, probably since I saw it for the first time when I was a boy of around 7/8 and loved it for ever since.

I have both on dvd and do watch them every now and then!!
Must take a look at the others mentioned in this thread now too!!
